Some questions come up more often that others, so here are the answers to some common problems. If any of the solutions listed here don’t work for you, let me know!
Q: “Can I change which columns/fields are shown in the download queue?”
A: Yes– To change what columns are visible in the download queue, right-click any item in the queue, and select “Choose Columns” from the context menu.
Q: “I can’t add anything to the download queue, no matter what site I try. What’s going on?”
A: This is almost always caused your .NET Framework installation being out-of-date. You can download the latest version of .NET Framework 4.0 from Microsoft here. Note that if you need to use a proxy/VPN to access a given website, you will also need to use a proxy/VPN with HDoujin Downloader (it’s important to note that some VPNs only affect your web browser traffic [e.g., Psiphon], not the traffic coming from all applications). Also, you’ll want to make sure that your firewall isn’t preventing the program from accessing the internet. If all else fails, generate an error log for the site and send it to me, and I’ll try to figure out why it’s not working for you.
Q: “What free VPN should I use?”
A: Hotspot Shield seems to be a popular choice, but note that the free version is known to inject ads into webpages, and they also keep logs. If all you’re doing is trying to get around censors, though, it should be more than suitable.
Q: “Is there a Mac/Linux version?”
A: There are no official Mac/Linux versions, however I’ve been told that it runs flawlessly using Wine with Winetricks (to install .NET 4.0/4.5).
Q: “How do I only download chapters in my language?”
A: Some sites offer chapters in a variety of different languages, and the program will attempt to download them all by default. To only download the languages that you want, go to “File > Site-Specific Options”, and select the website in question from the list. From there, you’ll have the option to check off the languages you want.
Q: “Is it possible to download Fakku subscription content/Fakku Books?”
A: This used to be possible, but we had to remove that functionality due to a request from Fakku. It is no longer possible as of version 220.127.116.11.
